1. Overview
Everything I Own ("the app") is a personal inventory and ownership-tracking app built to work entirely on your device. This policy explains what data the app handles, and the one optional feature that involves a third party: Google Drive backup.
2. The Short Version
- We collect nothing. There is no backend server operated by the developer, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind.
- Your data stays on your device unless you explicitly choose to back it up to your own Google Drive.
- No account or sign-in is required to use the app.
3. What Data the App Stores, and Where
All the information you enter — item names, categories, prices, warranty dates, serial numbers, notes, photos, receipts, warranty cards, and your own profile details — is stored locally in a private database and private file storage on your device. This data stays there by default and is never visible to the developer.
4. Permissions the App Requests, and Why
| Permission | Why it's used |
|---|---|
| Camera | To let you photograph an item, receipt, or warranty card directly from within the app. |
| Notifications | To show you a local reminder when a warranty is about to expire. |
| Internet | Used only if you choose to connect Google Drive backup (see Section 5). |
| Receive boot completed | To reschedule your warranty reminders if your device restarts. |
The app does not request access to your contacts, location, SMS, call logs, or broad storage/file access. Photos and documents you add are accessed only through the camera and the system file picker — the app never scans your device for other files.
5. Optional: Google Drive Backup
If you choose to connect Google Drive from Settings, the app will:
- Ask you to sign in with your Google account, using Google's own sign-in screen (the app never sees or stores your Google password).
- Request access only to files the app itself creates in your Drive (the
drive.filescope) — it can never see, list, or access any other file already in your Drive, including your personal documents and photos. - Upload a backup of your inventory data (and optionally your photos/documents) only when you tap "Backup Now," or on a schedule you explicitly turn on.
This feature is entirely optional. If you never connect Google Drive, no data ever leaves your device. You can disconnect Google Drive backup at any time from Settings, which stops all future backups.
6. Export and Sharing
The app lets you manually export your data as a JSON or ZIP file, or share an individual document, photo, or "ownership card" through Android's standard share sheet. Both actions happen only when you explicitly initiate them, and the resulting file goes wherever you choose to save or share it — the app does not transmit it anywhere on its own.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
Since all data lives on your device, you control it directly:
- Deleting an item, photo, or document in the app removes it immediately.
- Uninstalling the app removes all of its locally stored data.
- Disconnecting Google Drive backup stops future backups; files already in your Drive remain there until you delete them yourself from Drive.
8. Children's Privacy
The app does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect personal information at all — everything stays under the user's own control.
9. Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same page. We encourage checking it periodically.
